Previous Events

Thurs 11th July - Sunday 14th July
Camping weekend in Lechlade.
We plan to walk upstream alongside the River Thames on the Friday, to Castle Eaton and back.  On Saturday we will walk downstream to Grafton Lock and return via Kelmscott.  There will probably be a short walk on the Sunday, too, once we have checked out of the campsite.
Lechlade is a very pretty town, at the head of the navigable River Thames.  There are shops, pubs, restaurants and a large "wool" church.  If you would like to come, but don't fancy camping then some of the pubs offer accommodation.  There are also B&B options in the town, as well as budget hotel chains not too far away.
Organiser: John.

Meet at 6.30pm outside the entrance to Pitzhanger Manor for a walk to The Fox pub in Green Lane, Hanwell, W72PJ.

Please bring a picnic lunch.
Leader: Colin. 10 miles, Grade 1.

Sunday 11th August

Saturday 17th August
A walk along the Seven Sisters from Eastbourne to Excreat.
We will get the train to Eastbourne, then walk along the promenade, up over Beachy Head (the highest chalk sea-cliff in Britain at 162 m above sea level), then continue up and down along the cliffs over the Seven Sisters before walking up the Cuckmere River to the Visitor Centre & café at Exceat. From here we will get a bus back to Eastbourne and then the train home. There are return trains at 05 and 33 minutes past the hour.
The walk is about 10.5 miles long and a grade 3, due to the number of ascents and descents, some of them steep.
Please bring a packed lunch.
I plan to get the 09.24 train from Victoria Station to Eastbourne, arriving 10.51. Please meet at Ealing Broadway Station at 08.20 with your train ticket in hand. Ticket prices will vary depending on what railcards you have and who you buy your ticket through. An off-peak day return should be a good option. If you have a Freedom Pass, you can use it at this time on a Saturday and only need to buy a ticket from the boundary at East Croydon.
If you are going to Victoria Station separately, please let me know and we can meet there by the ticket office.
