Our Mission

The aim of the club is to enjoy the outdoors, but also to enjoy each other's company.

The Committee

The club has three elected officers: Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.  In addition there are four or five committee members, one of whom takes the role of Outdoor Secretary.  The committee meet every three months, but much of their work is done between meetings when correspondence is by e-mail.

How can I get involved?

New members generally get involved in the club by going on the Sunday walks.  The next step would be to join one of the regular residential trips, or perhaps plan and lead a walk.  Help is available if you have never done this before.

Some of our members organise social outings, such as theatre or cinema visits, meals out, cycling days or excursions to the climbing wall.  If you have an idea of something you think the club would like to do, then pass it on to a committee member.

AGM

The AGM is held in November.  There is usually good attendance by the members and it is their opportunity to ask questions of the committee and stand for a position on the new committee if they so choose.

"We really enjoyed the lovely walk and lovely, friendly people."

We have organised walks most Sundays. We meet in either Ealing or Uxbridge and we walk in the Chilterns, Surrey and other areas around London. We mainly drive to the start of the walk. There are normally spaces available in cars for people who do not have their own transport. Some walks use public transport.

Walks are normally between 6 and 12 miles in length often with a pub stop for lunch. In addition to Sunday walks we have weekends away with organised walks each day. Our weekends away often coincide with Bank Holiday weekends. We usually stay at YHA Hostels if available, although some of our members prefer staying at B&B accommodation close to the Hostel, or camp. Ealing Outdoor Club is affiliated to the Youth Hostels Association (England and Wales).

Our Membership is made up of people from a diverse range of professions and backgrounds. Membership is open to people of any age. Come along to one of our Sunday walks if you are interested. You need to ensure that you have adequate clothing. Wearing a pair of walking boots is advisable. Please read our club policy regarding participation in club activities.

Membership runs from 1 January to 31 December and costs £15. The Membership of new members joining between 1 October and 31 December of any year will be valid until 31 December of the following year. You are welcome to come along to a few walks before deciding whether or not to join.
